Parsing error: Unexpected token ? when using PHP inside of script

#1

Hello! c9 is incredible, I’m enjoying it greatly. I have encountered a situation though, I hope I can find more wisdom on the topic…

… this code runs only if I echo the inner Confirm on click jquery as a string, yet still gives the parsing error…
This instead is my desired preference of syntax, but this does not run on c9…

Any insight you may give into being able to coerce the ide into the second method (dipping in and out of php throughout a script tag), I would appreciate it. Also - Not sure if this is a bug on my part or c9’s. I do see that others have noticed similar functionality, in fact part of my preferred syntax uses the <?php tag inside the js string (this author’s work around … Editor shows syntax error with correct code (PHP, Javascript) )
Namaste
