Is write access required to run C++?

#1

My student shared his C++ workspace with me but I am seeing the request write access button where the run button normally is. Is this to say that write access is required to use that feature? This would seem to make sense since I’d expect to need to write to compile.

I believe write access is required to run any kind of file.

Usually you don’t need it to run, but I don’t see how you could compile without it.
