Install imagemagick and add PHP module

php

#1

Hi,

I tried this command in my PHP workspace as shown on the c9 homepage:

$ sudo apt-get install imagemagick

But the module did not install. I got this response:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package imagemagick is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'imagemagick' has no installation candidate

What can I do to install this module successfully?

i could use help with this as well. i have been looking at many different resources and not finding a solution. help?

#3

I had the same error, so ran ‘sudo apt-get update’ first, then it worked.

That worked for me too. Excellent! Thank you! :grinning:

Now I have imagemagick commands in my terminal (mogrify, etc).

Next I would like to install the imagemagick PHP module so it is listed when I type “php -m”.

Would anyone happen to know how to do that?

I will try to find an answer myself soon.

I figured it out.

To install the php5 imagick module, type this in the Terminal:

$ sudo apt-get install php5-imagick

I was solved with

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install imagemagick
