Bash Terminal Alias Not Working

#1

Hi! I’m writing a program for my CS 3370 class at UVU. The program uses two C++ files, one that acts like a Linux command line port number program and another that connects to the other file and acts as a tester black box. My professor wants an alias used to access the port number program through the tester program. I set up the alias with the name setport and through a bash terminal I was able to access the port number program through the tester program by the alias name. However, now when I try to perform the same task the alias name only accesses a help screen function of the port number program. Am I using the bash terminal incorrectly? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!
