Authentication Issue With Mongoose-Please Help!

#1

Greetings. I’ve been attempting to connect to my Mongoose Database from mlab through my workspace here on Cloud9 for an assignment that I have due tonight, however, I keep running into an authentication error.
Here is the error I receive:
dcleveland1041:~/workspace $ mongo ds243055.mlab.com:43055/mongoose -u dlc6182 -p renee1
MongoDB shell version: 2.6.12
connecting to: ds243055.mlab com:43055/mongoose
2017-11-23T15:56:09.941+0000 Error: 18 { ok: 0.0, errmsg: “auth failed”, code: 18, codeName: “AuthenticationFailed” } at src/mongo/shell/db.js:1292
exception: login failed

After doing some searching on the Internet, one issue that I MAY have is that Moongoose needs to be updated and I may have some compatibility issues with Ubuntu and Mongoose because of this. However, when I try to update Mongoose and I try to start it using sudo service mongod start or service mongod start, I get this error:
Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8)
utility, e.g. service mongod start

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an
Upstart job, you may also use the start(8) utility, e.g. start mongod

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here is the link to my workspace: https://ide.c9.io/dcleveland1041/dlc6182-assignment-2
